It's
sad to report that Qurna Discovery has been closed by the Ministry of Culture,
who appear to have taken it over as part of the Art College in Luxor. Caroline
Simpson's great exhibition of daily life in Qurna, including copies of 2
panoramic drawings by Robert Hay, dating from the 1820s have been removed
from the buildings that she was 'given' by the government soon after her
original building was demolished. She has worked painstakingly to refurbish
the buildings, and it is to be hoped that she may be compensated for the
work she has done, and the money she has spent on the project.
Hopefully, there may be other properties available for the exhibition.
